All I want for Christmas is a fur-ever home
This time of year, many people are thinking about the joy of spending quality time with friends and family. For the homeless pets at Blue Cross Devon, a loving family is something they have been waiting a long time to find. This Christmas, the charity is appealing to the public to help give these animals the forever homes they deserve.
Pebbles, an 8-year-old domestic shorthair cat, has been waiting for a new home for over 145 days. Playful and full of charm, Pebbles loves nothing more than chasing her toys and then curling up for a cosy snooze in her owner’s lap. Pebble’s would need to live in an area without too many neighbourhood cats and she would enjoy having some lovely green spaces nearby to explore.
Another pet looking for a loving home is Sky, an affectionate 11-year-old Semi-Longhair Tabby. Sky has been searching for a new home through Blue Cross for over 60 days. Described as a princess, she loves soaking up the sun and enjoying plenty of fuss on the sofa. Sky would be happiest in a home without other cats or dogs, as she has struggled to share her space in the past. She would also benefit from living away from a main road, with access to a few gardens where she can safely explore and bask in the sunshine.
Annaliese Langworthy, Centre Manager of Blue Cross in Devon, said: “Pebbles and Sky are wonderful cats, we would be thrilled to see them find their forever homes. In recent years, we’ve seen an increase in the number of pets coming through our doors in search of new homes. That’s why we launched our Critical First Night Christmas appeal, asking for donations to help teams provide safety and comfort for vulnerable pets in our care.”
Support is urgently needed to help vulnerable homeless pets this Christmas. By donating today, you can help provide a Critical Care Kit, which contains emergency items tailored to each pet’s needs on their first night with the charity, such as pain relief, antibiotics, warm blankets and nutritious food.
People can support Blue Cross by donating £10, £20 or £30, helping rehoming and veterinary teams provide urgent support to pets in need during their most vulnerable hours. For more information, please visit:bluecross.org.uk/christmasappeal.
