Twelve innovative Business from around Devon have travelled to London today to promote investment in the county’s business community.

In an event organised with support from Devon County Council’s ‘Devon Delivers’ project has seen business leaders from the digital, creative and ICT sectors meet with MPs and national journalists to tell their stories.

Among the businesses represented at the event was Exeter based success Rokk Media, who have recently extended their business by opening a London office.

Adam Stone CEO of Rokk Media said: “A fantastic opportunity to raise the profile and investment opportunities of Devon amongst key influencers.

“Devon is rapidly becoming the tech capital of the South and Rokk Media being recognised as at the forefront this move is a testament to that

“This is a wonderful opportunity and we fully intend to make the best of our visit.”

Other businesses including Simpleware Ltd, e-strategy Ltd  and the IT company Cosmic were among the twelve delegates.

A spokesman for cosmic said: “Over the last decade creative and digital businesses have increased by 43% and as a result, the contribution of these industries to the local economy has grown by 111%.

Cosmic are very proud to be a thriving business within Devon, and are passionate about providing high level digital / ICT service to rural communities. We are thrilled to have been selected to attend the event.”

The event was held as part of an ongoing campaign by Devon Delivers to promote investment and re-location in the county launched in 2011.

Designed to make relocation as straightforward as possible, the campaign is supported by the www.investdevon.co.uk website, with a relocation manager on hand to provide advice, information and access to useful business connections.

Businesses relocating to the area in recent months have included Blur Group, which became the first business to be based at the Exeter Science Park, moving its head office functions from London.

Councillor Andrew Leadbetter, Devon County Council cabinet member for economy and growth, said: “This Devon Delivers campaign is going to help companies recognise what our county has to offer. We want to see innovative companies moving to Devon to expand, contributing to our future regional growth.

“The relocation of Blur Group and others demonstrates that Devon is a perfect place to do business. Blur Group recently described the South West as the new Silicon Valley: what a great opportunity for our local economy.

“Businesses can thrive here. Combine that with the fact that Devon is a wonderful place to live, with a great quality of life, and Devon is a really exciting prospect for businesses.”
