Tech leaders from across the South West of England will gather for a key regional summit to discuss the future of the sector in July.

The summit, at Somerset County Cricket Club on Wednesday 5 July, will be a chance to discuss key opportunities and challenges, ranging from the fast-growing array of greentech brands in the region tackling environmental threats to concerns about the impact of generative AI.

The annual Tech Leaders Summit has been launched by Tech South West and will bring together founders, business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors.

The action-packed day includes interactive workshops, expert-led roundtables, networking, meditation and ‘walk & talk’ trips. AI, Founders, Innovation, Talent and Investment are the five main areas of focus, with experts, guest speakers, panels, learning and discussion.

Founders at some of the most promising early stage startups will be taking part in PitchUp Live, and delegates will also be discussing future plans for the sector, including the focus of the next Tech South West insight research project, and activity in London.

Somerset Council and The Somerset Innovation Exchange are supporting the event as Headline Sponsors, alongside RSM, who are sponsoring the Innovation Track.

Dan Pritchard, co-founder, said: “It’s going to be a fascinating day. Technology is in the limelight like never before, which is why we have to delve deep, understand the opportunities and challenges, people’s concerns and the elements that matter most to business and society.

“Change is happening fast. Technology is helping to solve some of the planet’s greatest problems. Opportunities are opening up in every part of business. New skills and jobs are needed. That’s why it’s essential that we get together, listen and learn, discuss and decide, as we work together to develop a shared vision for the future of the South West tech sector that is strong and relevant in a rapidly changing world.”

Cllr Ros Wyke, Lead Member for Prosperity, Assets and Development at Somerset Council, said: “It’s really encouraging to see that Tech South West is bringing its summit this year to Taunton which is a reflection of local business interest in the early adoption of innovation and technology. Somerset Council is keen to support the development of innovation and as such is pleased to be supporting this event which looks set to be an informative and interactive day of activity.”

Tech South West works to support the tech sector and has over 3,000 members, with partners including Microsoft, Program, Bishop Fleming, Mercia, Ashfords and British Business Bank.
