Skills Group is holding a breakfast seminar to provide employers with an update on the recent increase in the national minimum wage for apprentices and the introduction of new pension legislation, on Wednesday 25 November 2015.

The seminar, being held at the Skills Group training centre in Western Wood Way, Langage in Plymouth, is targeting employers in the business, care and early years, engineering, hairdressing and sport and leisure sectors. Experts from local solicitors, Kitsons, and local accountancy practice, Peplows, will be giving delegates an overview of the recent changes effecting employment law and an outline of the impact this will have for employers.

In addition, staff from Skills Group will be on hand to talk about funding of apprenticeship training and the grants available to help with the costs of taking on an apprentice.

Skills Group Apprenticeship Manager, Mandy Kerslake, said: “Skills Group supports a large number of small businesses, many of whom don’t have legal and financial departments to advise them. This breakfast seminar is being offered to provide these companies with an overview of recent changes in the national minimum wage, the impact of this on contracts of employment and also information about the requirements for automatic pension enrolment. Plus they will have the opportunity to raise any questions they have about the effects of these changes on their apprentices.”

The seminar will start at 8.00am with breakfast, include presentations from Skills Group Managing Director Mark Boulting, Rhodri Davey from Kitsons, Mike Young from Peplows and Skills Group Apprenticeship Manager Mandy Kerslake. The seminar is due to finish at 10am.
