Trampoliners at a Plymouth club are jumping for joy after receiving a cash injection from a leading house builder.

The City of Plymouth Trampoline Club has received a £1,000 windfall from Persimmon Homes South West as part of its Community Champions project, which will see a pot of £24,000 being given to support local groups and charities over 12 months.

The club intends to use the money to buy mats for its new double mini trampoline.

The thriving club, based at Notre Dame School in Derriford, delivers trampolining sessions from grassroots to the highest level, with some members competing at the British Championships.

Danny Anstey, of the club, said: “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes South West for this generous donation.

“We were recently given a second-hand double mini trampoline. These DMTs are hugely popular with teenagers and adults as it is fast paced and fun. Unfortunately, without a run up or landing area, we’ve not been able to use this fantastic piece of equipment.

“This money will allow us to start DMT sessions, which will no doubt encourage more people into the sport.”

Nina Hester, from Persimmon Homes South West, said the community initiative was a way of supporting people across every city, town and village where the company works.

She said: “We are very proud to support the City of Plymouth Trampoline Club.

“It’s great to see a club so committed to getting people active and into sport.”

The Persimmon Community Champions initiative is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.  Nationwide the company will donate a total of £750,000.

Nina said: “We’ve made it really simple to apply for funding, and we’re urging groups and charities to apply for next month’s donation by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.”

Persimmon South West has developments located across Devon, including at Saltram Meadow in Plymouth where there is a range of one, two, three, four and five bedroom houses, flats, cottages and coach houses available.
