Value retailer will open at former Topshop store this Thursday 26th November - New store will create 30 local jobs and more temporary Christmas jobs available

Value retailer Poundworld will open its first store in Plymouth this Thursday 26th November at 10am creating 30 new jobs. The new store will be situated at the former at the former Topshop unit next to JD Sports.

The huge 5,000 square foot Poundworld will occupy a prime spot on Plymouth’s high street and will stock everything from cleaning products, health and beauty items, stationery and DIY to toys and pet care products. The new store is the first to open in the Devon county.

Family-run discounter Poundworld started on a Wakefield market stall in 1974 and pledges to help shoppers in Plymouth to save big on their favourite household names including Cadbury’s, Johnson’s and Colgate.

With over 5,000 products for the price of £1, savvy shoppers can take advantage of consistently great deals on thousands of leading brands to drive down the cost of their weekly shop.

Area manager Paul Mackenzie commented: “It’s really exciting to be taking a flagship position on Plymouth’s high street bringing new life to the empty unit.

“We don’t have any Poundworld stores in the area so this will be the first time a lot of shoppers will have visited one of our stores. We hope shoppers will visit us and we think they’ll be pleasantly surprised by our range of products. “We put a great deal of time and money in to our stores to make sure we’re offering the best value shopping experience on the high street.

“Following our opening in Plymouth we plan to open more stores in Devon and elsewhere on the South Coast in the next year.”

The fast-growing value retailer has over 300 stores nationwide and plans to open a further fifty stores by the end of 2015. To apply for temporary Christmas roles at the store, applicants can email recruitment@poundworldretail.co.uk
