Man found dead in car in Bretonside

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man’s body was found on the back seat of a car in Plymouth.

A member of the public reported the discovery of the 44-year-old local man’s body to police at around 2.10pm on Tuesday 10 May.

A dog was also found on the front seat of the red Nissan Juke that was parked outside The Swallow pub at Bretonside.

Officers attended the scene and a cordon was put in place.

The investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the death, which is being treated as unexplained.

A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death and whether there are any suspicious circumstances.

The deceased man’s next of kin has been informed.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw the car arrive outside the pub, saw a man in his 40s with a dog, or saw any suspicious activity in the area on Tuesday 10 May up until 2.10pm.
