Hundreds of people had the chance to find out more about Plymouth’s new bus network at an event in the city on Saturday.

Stagecoach South West ran the Information Day in the run up to the launch of its new Plymouth network, which will also connect to parts of South Devon and Tavistock, and starts on Sunday September 6.

Staff from Stagecoach South West, including Marketing Manager Helen Scholes, were at Place de Brest on Saturday, talking to people about the new network. Information on the different routes and the bus numbering system was available and people had the opportunity to pick up copies of the new timetable.

Helen said: “We had a great turnout at the information day. People were really keen to find out about the new network. We spoke with lots of shoppers, commuters and visitors to the city. We gave out hundreds of timetables and helped answer people’s queries.

“It’s our first network operation in the city and we’re really excited about that. We’ve worked hard to develop a quality service for Plymouth which is modern, punctual and reliable. We’re now focusing on the final preparations and making sure we are ready to serve our new passengers across the city and beyond.”

The new network will be as follows:

1/X1            Plymouth – Derriford Hospital – Yelverton – Tavistock (currently routes 83/86)

Stagecoach will also continue to operate their existing routes with some minor timetable changes: X38 to Buckfastleigh and Exeter and Stagecoach Gold to Ivybridge, Totnes and Torquay.

An additional information day in Tavistock will be held on Thursday 3rd September in Bedford Square from 11am until 3pm. Whilst there is no change to the Tavistock town service timetable, there will be an improved service between Tavistock and Plymouth.
