Schools in Plymouth may have to stock up on extra spare PE kits this term as one in four parents in the city say it’s the back to school essential they’re most likely to forget.

With most schools due to reopen on 1st September, Drake Circus is expecting a last minute rush this weekend as parents get ready for the new term.

In a survey of local parents, Drake Circus found that 27% usually forget to buy a new PE kit, and a quarter forget about stationery such as pencil cases, pens, pencils and school bags.

The findings also revealed that some Plymouth mums and dads even forget which day their children are due back in school.

Greg Lumley, Centre Manager at Drake Circus said: “With so many things to think about, it’s no surprise that parents can find themselves forgetting a few essentials, buying the final bits right at the last minute. Our stores have been running great back to school promotions right through the summer and shoppers will still be able to make the most of them for their last minute buys.”

Drake Circus is situated just off Charles Street and is open Monday to Wednesday from 9am – 6pm, Thursday 9am –8pm, Friday and Saturday 9am – 6pm, and Sunday 10.30am – 4.30pm.
