CCTV appeal after attempted robbery

Police in Plymouth have issued CCTV footage  of a suspect they wish to identify following an attempted robbery in a City store.

The incident occurred at just after 7.00am on Monday 1st February at the Co-op Store in Poole Park Road, in the Barne Barton area of the City.

The offender entered the store wielding an iron bar and forced the staff to the rear of the store whilst demanding money and to be shown the safe.

The staff members were very courageous and managed to usher the offender out of the store without injury.

A potential witness dressed in a two tone blue top can clearly be seen in the CCTV footage and police are seeking to identify him as he may have vital information.

The suspect is described as being a man, approximately 6’ in height, medium build and wearing dark clothing ,believed to be a dark coat possibly a leather jacket  with a hooded top and a balaclava.

He was carrying a yellow plastic carrier bag.

Police are seeking information from anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone who may know the identity of the offender.
