Appeal after breezeblocks thrown from overpass

Police are seeking witnesses following two incidents where breezeblocks were thrown from an overpass onto moving vehicles below.

The incidents happened at the Elliot Road overpass between 8.45pm to 9.05pm on Thursday 19 January 2017.

The first incident [CR/004615/17] refers to reports of a concrete breezeblock being thrown around 8.45pm from the overpass and hitting a car, breaking the windscreen.

The second incident [CR/004600/17] refers to an incident where another breezeblock was thrown around 8.55pm to 9.05pm and hit a white articulated lorry shattering the windscreen.

PC Glenn Hawkins said: “The incident involved damage to a car and a truck and could have resulted in a serious incident.

“We ask any witnesses who saw something during these times to get in touch with Devon and Cornwall Police.”
