Plymouth fast food restaurant gets high-tech investment boost
Plymouth’s high street has been given a significant investment boost with the bold transformation of the McDonald’s restaurant.
Situated at the top of New George Street, the restaurant, which first opened in 1997, has been given a high-tech makeover to feature new self-service kiosks and digital menu boards.
The redesign also includes McDonald’s signature style with a bright, modern interior and exterior design, comfortable seating and free Wi-Fi.
This investment demonstrates McDonald’s ongoing commitment to high streets across the UK and is part of an extensive ongoing refurbishment programme. Many of the new features from the restaurant will begin to appear in other McDonald’s restaurants across the country in the coming months.
Local Franchisee Dave Wynne, who owns and operates five restaurants in Plymouth said: “We’re thrilled to be able to play a part in the re-generation of the high-street and bring an extra boost to the economy here in Plymouth.
“Staying ahead of customer expectations is vital and the new technology we’ve introduced in this restaurant recognises the way people live their lives today. It’s not just about providing a fresh, new environment though; I also believe in investing in my people and am delighted to be able to create around seven new jobs as a result of the re-design. With excellent training programmes and career opportunities, including the apprenticeship scheme, on offer to all of McDonald’s employees, I hope the roles will appeal to a broad spectrum of people across Plymouth.”
Deputy Lord Mayor Richard Ball said: "Plymouth welcomes the investment that has been made. The restaurant has been completely refurbished and decorated in a funky, cleverly put together style that fits in well with the hi-tech service equipment. The staff are highly motivated and clearly committed to delivering a high quality service, who together with Franchisee Dave Wynne made myself and the Deputy Lady Mayoress feel very welcome and we were delighted to try out the new self-ordering kiosks."
