Award-winning Plymouth company, Sponge UK has created a special Christmas game to spread some festive cheer and test out the latest elearning technology.

Every year, the business, based at Plymouth Science Park, creates an online Christmas game as an alternative to sending Christmas cards.

The highly skilled team at Sponge used the opportunity to put newly released elearning development software through its paces.

“Our Christmas game is a bit of a tradition as a way of saying thank you to our clients, partners and everyone who has supported the company over the past year,” said Liam O’Meara, Head of Sales and Marketing at Sponge UK. “This year’s game is pioneering the use of new elearning technology called Articulate 360. We’re already getting excited about how we can use what we’ve learned to enrich digital learning for our clients in the future.”

In the Sponge UK Christmas game, players help Santa wrap his presents by firing them into the gift-wrapping department. Then, they must deliver them down the chimney without hitting the walls or ledges. At the end, players can post their scores to an online leaderboard.

Last year, Sponge’s Christmas game, Save Santa was played 65 thousand times after being featured on a Chinese gaming website.

“We’ve had lots of fun making the Christmas game this year,” said Adam Read, Development Team Manager at Sponge. “One of the great things about working for the company is the opportunity to collaborate on innovative projects that help develop your skills as well as open up new possibilities for future products and services.”

The company is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of digital learning solutions for the workplace, working with some of the biggest brands in the world including Coca-Cola, Google and Tesco.

Seventy people work for the business, which is currently expanding and taking on more staff at its Plymouth headquarters.
