Eating healthy surely isn’t as easy as you might think it is.

Of course, everyone knows that fruits and vegetables are healthier than other foods, but what most people don’t know is how to mix certain foods to get the most powerful and healthy food combinations.

Experts constantly research the best ways to pair food, and these are the combinations they came up with:

1 - Tomatoes and broccoli

Broccoli and tomatos is a very powerful food combination that was discovered not too long ago. This discovery showed that the combination is able to help prevent prostate cancer. However, no one has still figured out why. John W. Erdman, a Professor of the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition of the University of Illinois, managed to prove that the combination of tomatoes and broccoli shrunk the cancer in rats so much that nothing except an extreme castration could be a more effective treatment. These two vegetables are both known for their ability to reduce the growth of tumors, but somehow, when they are combined, they are even more effective in doing that.

2 - Chocolate and apples

Due to apples containing the flavonoid quercetin, which can be found in their skin, they are proven to be extremely healthy. This flavonoid is known for reducing the risk of Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, heart attacks, allergies, and some types of cancer. On the other hand, chocolate contains the flavonoid catechin which is known for reducing the risk of cancer and atherosclerosis. When these two foods are combined, they loosen clumpy blood platelets, which results in providing you with anticoagulant activity, as well as the improvement in your cardiovascular health. These facts were proven by Barry Halliwell, who is a food science professor at the National University of Singapore.

3 - Grapes and blueberries

Eating these two types of fruit is much more powerful than eating them individually. This was proven as food experts studied the effects of antioxidants individually against their effects in a mixture of various fruits. When antioxidants become so powerful, they have the ability to greatly reduce the risks of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cataracts, stroke, cancer, heart diseases, and arthritis.

4 - Orange juice and oatmeal

The US Department of Agriculture, more specifically the experts in their Antioxidants Research Lab, discovered and proved that by eating a bowl of oatmeal and drinking a glass of orange juice you are basically cleaning up your arteries and greatly reducing risks of heart attacks. This is because the phenols (organic compounds) in these foods stabilize your cholesterol if consumed together.

5 - Kale and lemon

Expert Stacy Kennedy of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute suggests enriching your kale with a couple of lemon drops to make it healthier. This is due to the fact that vitamin C (which is found in lemons) helps the vegetable to make its iron much more absorbable. This will increase greatly increase both your muscle strength and immunity.

6 – Fish and Garlic

Fish is much healthier than you would imagine, as it contains outstanding minerals such as iodine, copper, selenium, iron, and zinc. These minerals have a great effect on your health, as they are reduce the levels of cholesterol, and also act as anti-inflammatory substances. However, you can’t always count on these minerals to their job properly, which is why cooking your fish along with garlic will result in a guarantee that you will eat a very healthy meal.

7 - Yogurt and almonds

What most people don’t know is that many vitamins are best absorbed when combined with fat. These types of vitamins are A, D, and E. As almonds contain quite a lot of vitamin E, combining them with yogurt is an excellent move. This combination will help maintain your cholesterol levels and will reduce your risks of a heart disease.
