Argyle go bottom again after defeat to league leaders

Gillingham 2 Plymouth Argyle 1

League Two, Saturday 9th March 2013

Plymouth Argyle returned to the foot of League Two after defeat on Saturday to top of the table Gllingham.

A record crowd for the Gills watched on as they scored in either half and kept Argyle to a single consolation goal to ensure the Pilgrims were not able to pull off a surprise result.

Antonio German opened the scoring for Gillingham after 31 minutes with Chris Whelpdale adding the second 17 minutes into the second half.

Jason Banton scored a fourth goal in 7 appearances to give Argyle hope of stealing a point but it was not to be and John Sheridan's side will now look to Tuesday night's home game against mid-table Bradford City for valuable points in this relegation threatened season.
