A Theatre Royal People's Company production, Sailors and Sweethearts is a celebration of the Plymouth Beryl Cook captured - of a vibrant and unique city with a clear identity and a future ahead of it.

This original production with performers from the local community, draws on real stories of nights out in Plymouth and the way these memories have shaped the lives of so many in the city and beyond. Sailors and Sweethearts is a celebration of a city that Beryl Cook, were she here today, would delight in and want to paint.

The Theatre Royal Plymouth’s People’s Company creates opportunities for anyone over the age of 18 to participate in theatre, including the chance to perform in the Drum Theatre.
