Music: Dante Quartet

"Playing of spellbinding atmosphere" The Guardian.

“The unflinching integrity of their interpretation and the excitement of their playing were consistently superb” The Guardian.

As part of our new Musica Viva Concert Series, the acclaimed Dante Quartet will present an evening of inspiring chamber music. Focusing on the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the programme features the impressionistic early Debussy String Quartet and the compelling and folk inspired Szymanowski String Quartet no.2. For their final piece, Dante Quartet will be accompanied by Dr Robert Taub, Music Director at The Arts Institute on the piano for Shostakovich's Piano Quintet, which includes anti-Stalinist sarcastic musical commentary that eluded censors.

These are pivotal works in the wide-ranging spectrum of music literature. Please join us for an evening of vibrant and vivacious music making as the Dante Quartet bring these works to life!

An informal pre-concert talk will take place before the concert at 19:00 with members of the Dante Quartet, to which everyone is invited.
