Do you look after someone who couldn’t manage without your help? There are at least 74,000 people in Devon who do, and Westbank’s Devon Carers is a free service to help them, delivered by Westbank Community Health and Care, and funded by Devon County Council and the NHS.

Devon Carers is hosting a free Information Fair for unpaid carers on Carers’ Rights Day, Thursday 23rd November, at the Exeter Phoenix in Gandy Street from 10 am to 4 pm. Carers Rights Day - a national event - is run every year to ensure carers are aware of their rights, know where to get help and support, and also to raise awareness of the needs of carers.

Devon Carers will be joined by other organisations offering information about the services which are beneficial to people in their caring role. These include Citizens Advice, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, Devon Young Carers, Exeter Community Initiatives, Healthwatch Devon, Qwell, Recovery Devon, South West Water and Westbank Community Health & Care to mention just a few.

Free activities will also be on offer. Join in with Christmas craft making including present tags, bags and decorations. Free refreshments will be available on the day.

Exeter Vaccination Centre will also be there to give flu and Covid-19 booster vaccinations for unpaid carers, all you have to do is pop in to see them!

For those unable to attend the event in Exeter, there are small stands at Trago Mills, Newton Abbot and Barnstaple Library, both open from 10 am to 4 pm.
