Nuts and Bolts: mastering business basics
New and small businesses are being encouraged to make 2014 a success by mastering business basics.
An event on 23 January is taking place to put fledging firms on the right track with networking, free workshops and taster sessions to help small businesses grow.
Organised by Plymouth City Council’s public protection team, the event is part of a series to help companies tap into the wealth of support and guidance available from the Council and other agencies.
Hot topics such as finance, social media, staff training, sales and marketing will be covered in the workshops along with other fundamentals to business success.
Food businesses will get the lowdown on how to aim for a five rating in the National Food Hygiene Ratings Scheme.
The scheme aims to give consumers the information they need to help them decide whether they are confident a food operator takes food safety seriously. For those new to the food business or those that may have let standards fall, the Council’s food safety team offers help. Other organisations taking part include the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
