Swedish thriller Easy Money is positively Dickensian in its themes and scope. JW (Kinnaman), a business student, dreams of surpassing his poor roots. From taxi driving to finishing other students’ homework, he’ll do anything for a buck. JW has a carefully calculated exterior hanging out with a crowd of beautiful, vapid rich kids who have no idea of his real life. When his boss asks him to get involved in the cocaine trade he knows he isn’t cut out for the criminal life but when money is this fast and easy, he won’t have to fake it for much longer and his ambition supersedes his moral convictions. After watching this film you will have no illusions: crime most definitely does not pay.
