National Storytelling Week comes to Plymouth
Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery will be celebrating one of the world’s oldest art forms with two special events connected to National Storytelling Week 2013.
‘Pyramids and Papyrus’ storytelling sessions will take place on Saturday 26 January from 1.30pm to 2.15pm and 2.30pm to 3.15pm.
Visitors can listen as a professional storyteller tells some amazing tales inspired by Ancient Egypt. Colouring and word activities will be available after both sessions. A ‘Discovery Desk’ will also be set up in the Ancient Egypt gallery with objects for people to handle and find out more about.
‘Global Adventures’ storytelling sessions will then be on offer on Saturday 2 February, also from 1.30pm to 2.15pm and 2.30pm to 3.15pm.
This time, people will be able to take a voyage around the world on the ‘Good Ship of Tales’ for folk tales from a variety of different cultures.
Trails inspired by Asia, Africa and Oceania plus colouring activities will also be on offer after both sessions.
The storytelling sessions are aimed at children aged four and over but younger brothers and sisters are also welcome. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery offers a range of events and activities for families throughout the year. For more information visit the Museum's what’s on page or telephone 01752 304774.
