Moorland Fuels pledges long-term support for South West farmers with FCN partnership

Okehampton-based Moorland Fuels, which provides domestic, agriculture and commercial fuel services to customers across Devon and Cornwall, has announced a long-term partnership with mental health and wellbeing charity, The Farming Community Network (FCN).  

 

Committing to support the FCN for a minimum of three years, Moorland Fuels will play a key part in extending the reach of the charity to remote rural communities and farms across the region. This will involve training its team to understand the daily challenges faced by the farming community it serves, providing vital support to struggling individuals when they need it most. 

 

Founded in 1995, the FCN supports farmers, farming families and people in rural communities across England and Wales through difficult times and periods of change, providing free, confidential, pastoral support to anyone who seeks help, regardless of whether the issue is personal or business related. The FCN runs a confidential national helpline (03000 111 999) and e-helpline (help@fcn.org.uk) which is open every day of the year from 7am to 11pm. 

 

As eyes, ears and a point of contact on the ground when out delivering to farms, Moorland Fuels will be heavily involved in supporting the charity.  

 

Over the next few weeks, representatives from the FCN will visit Moorland Fuels to talk to the team about the vital work the charity does and how they can support the farming community, which can often feel lonely and isolated.  

 

Moorland Fuels’ drivers, sales team and credit controllers will undertake training on mental health and wellbeing to understand how they can identify struggling farmers that could benefit from the support of the FCN.  

 

As the face that farmers see on a regular basis, Moorland Fuels’ drivers will be able to hand out FCN contact cards to spread the message about its range of support services, acting as a friendly point of contact in the farming community.  

 

Working as a united partnership, Moorland Fuels will also provide the farming community with handy fuel and oil tank advice to help improve fuel efficiency and reduce issues such as fuel contamination or degradation. This free advice will be shared through the charity’s daily communications with farmers, on the FCN’s website and social media pages.  

 

Georgina Lamb, Head of Partnerships at FCN, welcomed the collaboration saying: “We are delighted to partner with such a well-respected company as Moorland Fuels. As well as providing vital funds for the charity, it has given us the platform to promote our work to the wider agricultural community and will help support farming families at the grass roots level. In addition to supporting FCN’s daily work and helping generate more awareness for the charity, Moorland Fuels will attend regular FCN and Farmwell events and will also have a trade stand at the upcoming Okehampton Show (13th August 2026). Moorland Fuels’ sister company, Craggs Energy in Calderdale, will be supporting the FCN in the North West and Yorkshire, taking its message out to the farming community in the North.
