School staff walk 26 Miles for Smiles
On Saturday 16th of May, all of the staff who work at Clyst Hydon set off from school at 7am to embark on a marathon of a walk to raise money to support the children at Clyst Hydon Primary School.
They were ready to walk '26 miles for smiles' from 'Hydon to Horizon', leaving Clyst Hydon, walking to Sidmouth beach and then all the way back again to end at the 'Five Bells' pub in Clyst Hydon.
They battled through rain and blustery winds, endured blisters and aches and pains but all six of the team made the 26 mile journey in one piece.
Families and children gave them a great welcome return as they crossed the finish line, waving banners and cheering them in. They even got a shout out from Josh Widdecombe on Radio 2 which spurred them on.
The school is aiming to raise a total of £4,000 and with the help of Gofund me they have almost £2000 so far and the Parish Council have added £1,000 to the pot also.
