Oddfellows Friendship, Fun and Plenty of Turkish Delight!

Oddfellows Friendship Groups Celebrate a Delightful March

Members of the Oddfellows Friendship Groups in Redruth, Truro and Plymouth enjoyed a series of warm, lively gatherings this March, bringing together friendship, laughter and a taste of adventure.

A highlight of the events was a fascinating illustrated talk titled ‘Travels in Turkey’.

The guest speaker took members on a captivating journey across Turkey’s stunning coastline, majestic mountains, vibrant towns and historic cities, culminating in the bustling beauty of Istanbul. Sound recordings accompanying the slides helped bring the experience vividly to life. To complete the audio visual journey, members were treated to a selection of authentic Turkish Delight, offering a delicious taste of the country’s famous sweet treat.

The afternoons sparked plenty of questions and conversation, with laughter filling the room as members relaxed over a delightful spread of refreshments including tea, coffee, chocolate biscuits and cake, fresh fruit and sweets.

As always, the gatherings also provided a valuable opportunity for members to stay informed about the support available to them. A welfare update highlighted a range of benefits, including member grants for dental and optical care, emergency financial assistance, the members’ advice line and access to legal support.

There was also excitement about upcoming activities, including free chair yoga sessions and friendly lunch groups designed to bring members together and support wellbeing.

To round off the afternoons, members took part in lively raffles raising funds for local charities, while others browsed the free book club and picked up puzzle sheets to enjoy at home.
