Debut storyteller, Heather Moresby, has created a unique children’s picture book, Pick Up All Your Pots and Pans, which subtly addresses healthy eating as an important life skill for very young children and their parents.

Unlike a traditional picture book, this book is in three sections. The first part is an adorable rhyming adventure story where we meet our protagonists, Faye and Barry Alien.

This then leads to the Fruit and Veggie Game which challenges readers to search back in the book for delicious fruit and veggies including some special ones such as the Mean Aubergine and Mangos Dancing Tangos. The third section of the book contains dynamic and beautifully illustrated simple recipes that will enable even non-readers to easily understand both ingredients and instructions and to get cooking together with their parents.

Perfect for children aged three and over, “Pick Up All Your Pots and Pans” features loveable characters and a vibrant colour palette which will immediately appeal to young readers.

What’s more, it’s a really flexible resource for parents, carers and teachers as the book can be read as a whole or in its individual parts, as a bedtime story or as individual fun activities.

“From the outset, my goal was to create more than just a delightful traditional picture book. I also wanted to use the book with its three interactive elements to act as a vehicle to sneakily deliver some really important messages around healthy eating to young children and their parents. Early feedback to date seems to show that I have indeed achieved what I set out to do!”
