Few UK festivals are as anticipated as Glastonbury. Taking place from 25th to 29th June, the show held more than its fair share of triumphs and controversies. The dynamic event has always had just as many messy moments as it has victories, and 2025 was no exception. From new music from some of the world’s most influential artists to surprise visits from the universe’s favourite Doctor, there was truly something for everyone this year.

Let’s take a closer look at the 2025 Glastonbury Festival and explore some of the most unforgettable moments from Worthy Farm.

How to enjoy Glastonbury 2025

Glastonbury and festivals across the country have massively stepped up their involvement in expanding their audiences to reach far more people during the festival season. Through expanded online offerings people attending the festival can stay informed and involved in the bustling music scene as well as people at home wanting to enjoy the iconic festival from the comfort of their own home which has been achieved in large part due to a steady increase of exciting sponsorships to expand the festivals reach. From streaming platforms, huge catering companies or even through partaking in an online casino (UK) the music scene in the UK as well as worldwide has benefited greatly from an influx of sponsorships.

Lorde

Lorde took to Glastonbury 2025 in a ‘surprise’ set at Woodsies to celebrate the release of ‘Virgin’. It wasn’t actually a surprise, of course, as word got out almost immediately, but it was an exciting moment nonetheless! Crowds packed the field as she danced her way through the new release. At the end of the album preview, which was entertaining enough in its own right, the star performed ‘Green Light’ and ‘Ribs’, turning the field into a dance club in an instant.

While it might not have been the most hotly anticipated performance of the festival, Lorde’s set was undeniably polished, snappy and full of genuine passion.

Lewis Capaldi

Lewis Capaldi has lain low since his last Glastonbury performance in 2023. That’s no surprise given the vocal issues and tics that saw him exit the stage before the set was complete. This year, as the man himself so eloquently put it, Capaldi was back, baby! He performed on the Pyramid Stage to a screaming crowd cheering on his every move. The set was short but impactful, and many attendees named it as their highlight of the week. It was certainly one of the most emotional and revelatory, if nothing else.

Peter Capaldi

Another crowd favourite moment from the 2025 festival was the surprise appearance of the world’s most beloved Doctor. Franz Ferdinand hit Glastonbury hard, delighting crowds with a unique mix of sweet tunes and absolute bangers on The Other Stage, before making a surprise announcement. And unlike Lorde’s set, this one was truly unexpected! After a full, energetic performance, Alex Kapranos paused for a moment to announce the arrival of none other than Peter Capaldi, the 12th Doctor himself. Decked in full punk regalia, Capaldi gave an energising performance of ‘Take Me Out’, ending the set with a bang.

The 1975

Headlining the Pyramid Stage on Friday night, the 1975 were in rare form at Glastonbury this year. They set aside politics in favour of art – and it paid off big time. The Manchester natives put on an indulgent, electrifying set complete with Matty strutting across the stage with a Guinness and a rollie while belting out ‘Chocolate’. From the first song to the last, the group made it clear that Friday night was all about the music, not the headlines, and they put on one of their best shows in recent memory.

Japanese Breakfast

Originally scheduled for 2023’s festival before travel delays forced them to pull out, Japanese Breakfast’s debut had been one of the most eagerly awaited. They did not disappoint! The stage was a hot one, and not just because it took place mid-afternoon underneath the blistering sun. Performing a set pulled primarily from their two most recent albums, Jubilee and For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women), Michelle Zauner’s band were in top shape as they moved thousands of bodies to dance despite the heat. ‘Mega Circuit’ and ‘Honey Water’, in particular, were standouts.

Kneecap

Of course, no Glastonbury 2025 review would be complete without mentioning the highly controversial appearance of rap trio Kneecap. Standing at the centre of the ‘Free Palestine’ movement, the group have faced a lot of backlash and support in recent months, with their loudest critics decrying the festival’s decision to include them in the line-up. Luckily, the group let their music talk – and it was well worth the wait. Preaching unity, Kneecap put on an incredibly energetic and rousing show, complete with ‘THE RECAP’ and ‘Get Your Brits Out’ closing it all out.

Glastonbury 2025 was one heck of a show. From the surprise visit from the Doctor to the controversial Kneecap and the victorious Lewis Capaldi, there was a lot to love at this year’s festival.
