Luckiest region of the UK
It is that time of the year when winning some money would be a great benefit to you and your family. And if you live in the northern part of the UK, trying the People’s Postcode Lottery would be worth it. Research has shown that people in the north are more likely to win the £3million draws than those in the southern part because only 37 percent (18 out of 45 winners) are from the south. The purpose of the research conducted by sellhousefast.uk (a housing agent) was to identify the region in the UK with more winners of the People's Postcode Lottery.
New data from the UK National Lottery organizer has proved that people from some regions are luckier than others are. According to the data, Birmingham stands as the luckiest lottery hotspot. The B code has also stood as the most fortunate. Since its inception in 1994, the National Lottery has made over 5,500 millionaires. Of all the millionaires made, 168 are from Birmingham. Speaking of the £50,000 draws, 1,277 winners are from the area.
Available data also shows that postcodes starting with CH are likely to win the £30,000 draws. The other codes more likely to win the draws are BS, BN, EX, NE, N, IP and SK. When it comes to the £1,000 daily draws, the postcodes starting with S have higher chances of winning while those starting with B stand at the second place. Postcodes starting with U, J, Z and A are the least likely to win. Exeter ranked as one of the unluckiest cities along with Northern Ireland and wales.
The areas in second and third place
Despite the northern part being home to most winners, Devon’s postcodes have had the largest number of £3million draw winners. The number of winners stands at five since the year 2016. Greater Manchester stood at second place with four winners. Worcester and Merseyside stood at the third position, each with three winners. People in Wales are unlikely to win because no prize has gone to the place since the £3million draw started in the year 2016.
The research showed that you are twice more likely to win the People’s Postcode Lottery draws if you are from northern England than you would when living in the south. The luckiest postcodes were from the Yorkshire area in 2019. Actually, 2 out of the winning 9 postcodes were around 29 miles apart. But when it comes to the £30,000 draw, the case is different.
Most of the £30,000 draw winners since the year 2018 are from Greater London. Greater Manchester, Devon, Kent, Lancashire, Surrey and South Yorkshire follow in the list. But in 2019, Greater Manchester was home to the luckiest postcodes. Nine of the £30,000 draw winners were from the area and Kent followed with people taking the generous prize home.
If you are from Scotland, you will have a higher chance of winning if you are living in Lanarkshire. By 2019, six winners came from the place - only six people have won the £30,000 draw in the whole country.

Statistics can solidify myths into facts or bust them. Most lottery players believe that luck in the lottery is bound to geography. Northern Ireland has reported the smallest number of winners – only 81 millionaires and 647 winning £50,000+ prizes. That might be due to its small population. So, if you are planning to participate in the National Lottery or any other Lottery game, select your location wisely.
