Plymouth Argyle: Season Preview, Odds & More
Last season was tumultuous for Plymouth to say the least; relegated to the fourth tier of English football, fan unrest and squad unrest.
However, with a new season brings new optimism and Plymouth fans will be hoping for a much better campaign this time round.
Manager Derek Adams has since been given his marching orders and the overall feeling around Home Park is a lot more positive as we head into the 19/20 season.
New Boss
Plymouth’s success this coming season will rely somewhat on the manager and it was seen as a major coupe when ex-Bury manager Ryan Lowe was appointed new boss, particularly after he guided his former club to promotion last season.
Despite Lowe having limited managerial experience, the way he plays the game has drawn compliments from some of the biggest managerial names in football including Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.
Lowe’s advocates a very attack-minded approach, borne out by the fact that his Bury outfit where the highest scorers in League 2 last season. If he can translate his message to the Plymouth squad then fans could be in for a real treat next term.
New signings
Everybody knows that a football team is only as good as the players at their disposal but so far Lowe has been backed in the market and a number of new and exciting faces have arrived.
Danny Mayor became Lowe’s first signing, joining Argyle from Bury. The announcement of the 28-year-old midfielder’s arrival generated huge exitment with the new boss even claiming that Mayor is better than Lameiras.
Centre back Will Aimson has also joined from Bury. The 25-year-old made 43 appearances in his only season at Gigg Lane, and he is renowned for his strength and passing prowess.
Striker Dom Telford, defender Callum McFadzean and winger Byron Moore have also all joined on free transfers.
Season Prediction & Odds
Excitement is building at Home park and there’s no doubt that the fans will be in full voice when Plymouth face Crewe Alexandra in their opening fixture. Although he hasn’t been there long, Lowe is starting to get his message across to his players, and it is starting to have a positive effect.
Plymouth are priced at 10/1 to win the league title, suggesting they are the favourites and if you partake in a weekly acca or bet on the Pilgrims then make sure you check out this free matched betting calculator so you can maximise any potential profits you may make.
