Photography ‘Shoot Off’ for a New Book announced at Mount Edgcumbe
Producers of a new book that aims to tell the story of Plymouth, are challenging the City’s photography community to get involved in its creation as part of the Mayflower 400 celebrations.
Photographers - professionals, amateurs and students - are being invited to take part in a unique Mayflower ‘shoot off’ at Mount Edgcumbe on Friday, May 31st.
Mayflower 400 - A Seachange - is an ambitious new project that aims to tell the story of Britain’s Ocean City, its people and its place in the discovery of the new world.
The narrative will feature 20 Plymouth figures, and their modern day counterparts, brought to life by the people of Plymouth.
“We’re looking for a gallery of 20 fantastic portraits of people living and working in the City right now,” says the book’s creative lead, Juliet Coombe, herself a photojournalist.
“The shots will feature in the book and possibly an exhibition. To find the right shots we’re inviting local talent to take part in a ‘shoot off’, where they’ll get the chance to take photos of people who feature in the book. We’ll invite photographers of the best images, to create a special series of images for the book.”
The chosen photographers will be paid out of the proceeds of the book, which will be crowdfunded later this year.
“We really want to see what creative talent is out there in Plymouth. This is a real chance to work with a national level team and shape a unique publication.”
Photographers should get in touch by registering at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mayflower-400-a-seachange-photography-shoot... and be available to start the shoot at 8am-4pm, Mount Edgcumbe main lawn on Friday, May 31st.
A series of local people have kindly agreed to pose as subjects and Mount Edgcumbe has kindly agreed for the use of its grounds to form backdrops. Queries should be addressed to hello@wordfluential.com.
