4 Sports You Need to Try Out
Going to the gym can be quite boring. No matter how good your music playlist might be, working out in the gym can very quickly make you feel like a hamster in a wheel. At the same time, you need that exercise to feel better about yourself, improve your energy levels and control your weight. So, what’s the solution? Sport! Don’t worry; you don’t need to sign up for football sessions or boxing lessons. Taking up a sport is not one of those decisions that you need to feel uncomfortable with. Look for the sports that you enjoy watching or the ones that look like they might be a lot of fun to play, and you might just end up cancelling your gym membership permanently. If you’re considering taking up a sport, here are some varied choices that might give you the push you need to try something new.
Ultimate Frisbee
It’s not just for messing about on the beach! Ultimate Frisbee is not just great for getting your body moving; it can be a lot of fun too. If you’re near a city, then do some checking to find the groups that partake in Ultimate Frisbee. There are plenty of them! Played in teams and with a standard point scoring system, playing a bit of frisbee is much more fun, and can be better for you than an hour on the treadmill.
Trampolining
There are trampoline categories in the Olympic, so that definitely makes it a sport. That means that you can book yourself into any of the many trampoline parks that have sprung up in the last few years. Great fun to do, and a fantastic opportunity to treat your inner child, trampolining should not be underestimated in terms of the workout that you’ll get. Even the healthiest gym-goer will struggle to bounce around the play centre for more than thirty minutes!
Cloud Chasing
With the rising popularity of vaping, it was probably inevitable that a sport would appear based on it. If you're not looking for a physically demanding sport to try, then cloud chasing might be the perfect option. It’s not small either, with dedicated competitions, money prizes, and sponsors giving it an extra element of legitimacy. Get practising with some e-liquids from Ultimate Juice and try out some of the large clouds that are possible. Join a local cloud chasing group, and you might be good enough to enter an official tournament!
Parkour!
If it’s fitness and flexibility that you’re really looking for, then you should definitely take a closer look at Parkour. You’ve probably seen it already, and it can look quite terrifying! Parkour is basically leaping through urban spaces and using street furniture to bounce and spring from. Professional free-runners even jump from building to building, but you might want to start at ground level before you start clambering up the side of your local supermarket.
Taking up a sport is a good way to break out of your tedious routine, and can be of benefit to your physical and mental health. Choose the sport that suits you, and get practising. Contact local groups, and you’ll end up having a much better time than lifting weights in a sweaty gym - so if you are interested in men's yoga, right across to rugby - get involved!
