Upselling involves selling a customer a more expensive product than they originally showed interest in. To do this, you must point out why getting the more expensive product is worth paying that little bit extra for, whether that be because it works out as being more cost-effective, better value for money, or simply better quality. Linked selling incorporates selling the customer more items that will complement the ones they’ve already chosen to buy, such as a small bottle of prosecco with a box of chocolates, for example.

Ensure Expert Product Knowledge

If you’re hoping to improve profit margins, then the staff working for the company must be well-informed and able to demonstrate expert knowledge of the products they are selling. Customers want to know what they’re buying, the benefits of the item, and why exactly they should part with their cash. Ensure every team member is up to date with the pros of each item of your stock, as doing so will help customers place their trust in the product.
