Bretonside to be reopened early after cable fault repair works
Local electricity company Western Power Distribution (WPD) are embarking on work that involved the closure of a section of Bretonside, in Plymouth to enable repairs to a faulty 33,000v oil filled cable. Commencing on Monday 4th September, it was anticipated this work would take between 4 and 10 weeks depending on the severity of the cable damage, however the opening of the road will now take place on Tuesday 19th September.
The section of road that is closed is from the junction of Exeter Street, Plymouth for a period of approximately 90 metres.
Gary Beasley, Project Engineer for WPD explains: “We appreciate this work will have caused some disruption to customers and commuters as it’s been undertaken in the highway, but we would like to reassure our customers that work is continuing swiftly and with success so we are pleased to say we are ahead of schedule.”
“We have kept customers informed along the route and our aim is always to minimise any disruptions caused by this work and thank everyone for their understanding.”
