Superheroes will be taking to the streets of Plymouth as part of a new look Lord Mayor’s Festival this year.

Batmen, women, boys and girls, together with Wonder Women and Supermen, will be creating a Marvel-lous mix as part of a new look family event to welcome the new Lord Mayor into their role.

Plymouth City Centre on Saturday 28 May will be the place for caped crusaders, Captain Americas and Spidermen and women.

From 10am until 4pm there will be a packed programme of events with fancy dress competitions for the most super superhero and a Superhero trail hosted by shops from Drake Circus and through the city centre.

There will be plenty of street entertainment with the Place De Brest becoming our very own Covent Garden area and the amazing Titan the Robot will be performing on the Piazza in the afternoon.

Deputy Council Leader Peter Smith said: “We want families and friends to dress up get into the spirit of the day and come as superheroes.

“The Lord Mayor’s Festival is shaping up to be a brilliant day out with lots of displays, live music and performances. Families are guaranteed to have a fantastic time, whether they get stuck into characters or just enjoy watching the spectacle. It’s going to be fun.”

The Council would like to hear from organisations and individuals wishing to take part in the event, providing music, dance or entertainment, running a charity stall, showcasing a club display or hosting a community exhibition.
