Sister Jane Gilliam, who works within Immunology and Allergy Speciality at Derriford Hospital, who has been awarded ‘Fundraiser of the Year’ for the second year running in the Woolwell Business and Community Awards.

Jane has been fundraising for almost 16 years and in total, has raised in excess of £10,000.00 for a variety of excellent charities within her local community. These include Birch Ward (Plymouth and District Leukaemia Fund), the Eden Unit Charity Fund, Hospital Radio Plymouth and many more.

Throughout the years, Jane has organised Christmas and Easter raffles, has run seven Plymouth Half Marathons, walked Midnight Walks and much more to raise these funds, but sadly has to stop fundraising due to injuries.

Jane said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed helping charities over the past 16 years and I really was very honoured to be awarded Fundraiser of the Year last year, let alone again this year, but feel very proud to be awarded it again!

“I am sorry to say that I will be retiring from fundraising after suffering two injuries to my knee and to my foot, so unfortunately this has stopped me running! Winning this award has definitely been the pinnacle of my achievements!”

The Fundraiser of the Year Award is given to an individual who has supported others or has been personally involved with raising funds for good causes in the local community.
