Witness appeal after Devonport mugging

Police in Plymouth are appealing for witnesses following a robbery.

The incident occurred at around 2.20pm on Wednesday 8th July in the Devonport area of the City.

The victim, a 20 year old man was walking in the lane which runs between Chapel Street and St Aubyn Street when he was approached by a man carrying a free-view box and a folder. He demanded money and punched the victim several times to the stomach before stealing his wallet.

The suspect is described as being a white man, 6’ in height, slim build, and aged in his 30s. He was wearing a black baseball cap, blue jeans, black coat and black sunglasses with a green lens.

This was an unprovoked attack in broad daylight and police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.
