Devils back on the road again
The Skillsgroup Devils are on the road once again in Premier League Cup action tonight, when they meet the Ipswich Sackers Witches at the Foxhall Stadium, the meeting gets underway at 7.30pm. Ipswich will be at full strength, and the Devils make one change, writes Tim Locke.
Ipswich will have Ritchie Hawkins as their captain. Experienced Great Britain rider Danny King is the Witches number one choice this season. King is back for his seventh season at Foxhall.
USA World Cup team member Gino Manzares returns for another season, as do the talented pair of Australians Cameron Heeps and Rohan Tungate. 19 year old Heeps who comes from Perth and is back for his fourth spell with the club, as is Tungate who made his UK debut with the Witches in 2012 and has been with them ever since.
Danish rider Stefan Neilsen returns to the club this season his last spell with Ipswich was in 2012, and new boy on the block is the former Italian Champion, World Cup and Grand Prix rider Nico Covatti who hails from Argentina.
After Friday and Saturday's embarrassing performance's by the Devils something had to be done, said Plymouth Team Manager Lee Trigger (pictured left). "We had strong words on Friday and Saturday and even more before the Peterborough meeting which I would like to think worked." "The team were absolutely brilliant at Peterborough it was a massive turnaround". "I couldn't change the riding order for Sunday as it was already declared and we have to give prior notice. So I have Shook it up a bit this week".
"We are going into tonight's meeting with one change due to Sam Chapman's speedway injury, we are bringing in Mildenhall's Captain Danny Halsey at number 7. Sam Simota will now ride at number 2, Jack Holder at 3, Jack is more of an outside rider as Morten Risager is more inside rider and will now occupy the number 4 spot. Kyle Newman will move to 5, and Ashley Morris to 6".
"Fish (Ryan Fisher) will now have two fresh engines and has sorted his bikes out. I'm sure he will be back to how a number should be. There is no one more disappointed than Ryan with his recent performance.
Rider placements at 3 and 4 are the engine room of the team, Jack (Holder) has been superb since he has joined us, There is still more to come from Morten, and we all know what Morten can do. I think they will be a great pair at 3 and 4. Kyle's performance at Peterborough on Sunday was a number one's performance so with him riding like that I'm sure with the reserves under his wing he will give them the lift and bring them along.
Ipswich is a very hard track to go to, it's going to be tough but I'm hoping with the likes of Morton who has had vast experience on this track he can advise the team on setups, although it doesn't seem to bother Jack wherever he rides. Fish is back on fresh equipment and Kyle is on form the main thing is that we don't want to undo the work we have already put in place. We need to ride hard, it's one of those tracks if you ride it half hearted you won't score points".
