Jack Lukeman: Phantasmagoria
Iconic Irish star Jack Lukeman is set to bring his new show, Phantasmagoria to The Tiki Bar in Plymouth on Friday 20th March.
Just one of four intimate mini tour dates planned for England this Spring, organisers are expecting a high demand for tickets following Jack's recent stunning appearance with the Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra at the Plymouth Pavilions in December.
Jack Lukeman - also known as Jack L - is one of Ireland’s most respected and best loved performers. Described by The Guardian newspaper as “a mixture of all the great voices of the 20th century", few can match his award-winning powerhouse vocals and inventive live shows. His first solo album was universally lauded and even went platinum in Ireland. In recent years, he has performed with musician Nick Cave and writer Patrick McCabe in a series of performances mixing spoken word, poetry reading and song, and his powerfully expressive vocals have been compared to such disparate types as David Bowie, Tom Waits, and Frank Sinatra.
2014 was a whirlwind year for Jack, who performed several knock-out concerts around Europe and America, and was even awarded the prize for “BEST MUSICAL PERFORMANCE” at the San Diego Festival in the USA. Another highlight was his performance at the prestigious Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts – the home of the New York Philharmonic - where he sang as lead vocalist with the legendary Nelson Riddle Orchestra, to an ecstatic reception. He also recorded a Christmas Special for RTÉ Radio One and toured as Special Guest with Jools Holland on the UK leg of his tour – Jools had seen a clip of Jack performing and contacted him about joining the show.
Last year, Jack was invited back for a two week stint at the biggest arts festival in the world – Edinburgh Festival – for a record breaking 5th consecutive year! (the first time this has happened in the history of the festival). He also won the Spotlight Award for “Best Musical Performance” at the festival two years ago, and as a result his reputation has grown enormously throughout Britain, Europe and the USA.
In Phantasmagoria, Jack will be giving a potted history of his stunning career to date and will be performing songs from his recent smash hit shows The 27Club and The Great Wall of China, plus lots of new material from his upcoming album thrown in.
