Man knocked unconscious in assault

Police in Plymouth are appealing for witnesses after a 30-year-old man was knocked unconscious during an assault in Union Street.

The victim was involved in a verbal altercation with a man outside the Raw nightclub on Sunday 10 August at around 1am. The man then grabbed him around the throat and punched him causing him to fall to the floor.

The victim suffered serious head injuries including a fractured skull as a result and was taken to Derriford Hospital where he remains.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.

A 39-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until 3 November.
