Council Leader Tudor Evans has visited a fast growing Plymouth company that has developed the technology that supports some of the largest websites in the UK.

Councillor Evans met Rob McCarthy, Chief Executive Officer at GOSS Interactive, whose technology underpins websites or Intranets for some of the largest UK organisations, including the Met Office, Brittany Ferries, South West Water, BBC, Berkeley Group, Virgin Trains and more than 90 public sector organisations.

The 55-person company, which is now based in Dark Lake View after outgrowing its previous premises on Plymouth Science Park. GOSS also specialises in channel shift consultancy, where it’s a leader in helping organisations to increase customer satisfaction and significantly reduce business costs by moving complex business processes online. GOSS is also helping local councils across the UK to save millions every year by enabling citizens to access more services online increasingly via mobile devices and tablets.

GOSS Interactive has won a number of awards since being set up in 1999, including Best Creative Business in the South West from the Western Morning News, and also winning a national competition to design new ways of online browsing for the BBC.

Councillor Evans said: “GOSS Interactive is a great example of a cutting-edge Plymouth company that is leading the way nationally and supporting big name clients across the country. It was great to hear how the company has been growing in both size and in reputation and about their plans for the future.

“It was particularly encouraging to hear how a high percentage of their highly qualified staff are local graduates and how other staff have been attracted here by an interesting vocation and the great lifestyle available in Britain’s Ocean City.”

Robert McCarthy said: “I take great pride in showing off what we do here at GOSS, transforming other organisations using the power of the internet is what the people here really excel at. It’s really encouraging to get some support and interest from our local authority.”
