Are you batty about bats? Fancy a bit of art in the park or some meadow magic in Whitleigh?

People are being asked to hug their park as part of the national ‘Love Parks Week’ a celebration of all that’s green and pleasant in Plymouth.

An exciting programme of events, which starts on Friday 27 July and runs until 3 August, gives families and young people plenty to do in the great outdoors in and around Plymouth during the summer holiday.

Lots of events are going on all over the city and range from bug hunts, to a ‘bioblitz’, getting to grips with scythes as well as free tennis sessions and bike rides.

And as Britain’s Ocean City is also proud of its blue space as well as its green space, there are also activities on the shores of Plymouth Sound and the banks of the River Tamar.

Councillor Brian Vincent, Cabinet Member for the Environment said: “Plymouth has so much green space – we want to encourage people to visit the areas and try out new activities

“We have worked incredibly hard with many different organisations to make the most of all our parks and open spaces and encourage more people to get involved.

“Love Parks Week is a chance to celebrate the amazing space we have on our doorstep and all the incredible work that goes on all year round to keep it amazing.
