Plymouth were beaten 58-36 in the Premier League at Ipswich on Thursday evening with skipper Ben Barker managing only one win from five starts at one of his former tracks.

The Skills Group Devils were trailing by only six points after eight heats, but Ipswich finished strongly to wrap up their 22-point victory.

Plymouth suffered through the absence of Rasmus Jensen, injured, and Kyle Newman, on Elite League duty. The rider replacement rides for Jensen provided only five points, while Sheffield’s Taylor Poole, guesting for Newman, scored seven points from his five outings.

Adam Roynon completed all four races on his return from injury, but clearly lacked match fitness, his only point coming from a third place when home rider Gino Manzares had retired.

Ipswich: Sam Masters 10+1 (4 rides), Ritchie Hawkins 5+1 (3), Morten Risager 12 (5), Gino Manzares 6+1 (4), Rohan Tungate 13+1 (5). Reserves: Cameron Heeps 7+3 (5), Adam Ellis 5 (4).
Plymouth: Ben Barker 11 (5), rider replacement for Rasmus Jensen, Taylor Poole 7 (5), Adam Roynon 1 (4), Josef Franc 6+1 (6). Reserves: Roland Benko 3 (4), Sam Simota 8 (6).
