The multiple award-winning Royal Seven Stars Hotel in Totnes is celebrating yet another accolade for its high levels of customer service, having received the highly sought after 2014 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award for the fourth consecutive year.

The award itself has only been running for four years, and The Royal Seven Stars Hotel is among the very few hospitality businesses to have retained this award since its inception.

Only those establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor and receive praise and recognition for their excellence in hospitality receive the award.

To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travellers on TripAdvisor. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

Margaret Stone, General Manager at The Royal Seven Stars commented: “The TripAdvisor award is a fantastic endorsement from the people that matter the most; our customers. What they say and think about us really matters.

“From the quality of our accommodation and the beers served at our two bars, to the dining experience in our stylish TQ9 Brasserie, everything has to be of the highest level. Whether you’re, pouring a glass of champagne, making a dream come true for couples getting married in our ballroom, or simply providing a place for groups to gather and enjoy a cup of coffee together, the level of service has to be the same; uncompromising. Only by doing this have we succeeded in retaining this accolade.”

The TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is a further feather in the cap for the hotel that last year won Gold for both Hotel of the Year, and Excellence in Customer Service at the English Rivera & South Devon Tourism & Hospitality Awards. It was also awarded a four-star status and a Silver Excellence Award by the English Tourism Council.

The hotel is going for a hat-trick of Gold awards at his year’s English Rivera & South Devon Tourism & Hospitality Awards awards having won Tourism Business of the year in 2012, and the overall title of Hotel of the Year in 2013.

Winners of the TripAvisor Certificates of Excellence range from one-room bed & breakfasts to 6000-room hotels, from bakeries to Michelin star restaurants and hidden attractions to world-renowned parks and museums. Winners are located all over the world and represent the upper echelon of businesses listed on the website, with only the top 10 percent receiving the prestigious award.
