Shakespeare from The Globe Theatre is being screened for the first time at Plymouth Arts Centre this summer.

A production of The Tempest, filmed in high definition live at Shakespeare’s reconstructed Globe Theatre in London in 2013, is coming to Plymouth Arts Centre for a storm of a show.

The Tempest is one of three critically-acclaimed productions from Globe On Screen which are being shown in their entirety on screens in local cinemas this year.

Reviewed by The Independent as ‘The funniest and most touching Tempest I can recall’, the screenings on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 July will give the cinema audience an up-close experience of the world-renowned Globe Theatre from the comfort of their cinema seat here in Plymouth.

Film Programmer, Anna Navas says: "We have previously programmed screenings of opera which have proved popular with new audiences and we are testing the waters at Plymouth Arts Centre with Shakespeare on film."

Midsummer Night’s Dream will also be gracing the screen, not strictly in midsummer, but on 26 and 27 August.

Tickets for both productions are available from Plymouth Arts Centre, by phone on 01752 206114, or at www.plymouthartscentre.org
