Police make arrests following unexplained death

Police have arrested two men following an incident in Ilfracombe which took place late on Sunday night.

Officers were called at 11pm on Sunday 8 June by an ambulance crew who were treating an injured man.

The man, aged in his 30s, was found at the bottom of a steep slope in the Two Potts area of the town and had suffered a serious head injury. He was taken to North Devon District Hospital where sadly he later died.

Two men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

Both men, who are aged 47 and 38 and from Ilfracombe, remain in police custody.

Officers are at the early stages of their investigation and at this time it is unclear how the victim sustained his injuries.
