Devon Masterchef makes welcome donation to Adult Social Care Services
One of Devon’s Adult Social Care services which helps people with learning disabilities says its delighted to receive a donation from celebrated Devon chef, Anton Piotrowski.
Anton who jointly won TV’s toughest cookery contest BBC’s MasterChef in 2012, has generously given £500 to benefit people with learning disabilities who are supported by the learning disability service.
Anton’s brother used to go to the Molly Owen centre in Tavistock some years ago until sadly passing away.
Anton presented a cheque to Mark Mooney, Stephanie Mitchell and Julian Roberts from the Molly Owen Centre along with Team Leader Rachel Dodd at the pub he owns with wife Claire, The Treby Arms, Sparkwell on Monday.
Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health Services, Stuart Barker says; “I am extremely grateful for this kind donation from Anton and I am sure it will be put to very good use. It is testament to the staff that we are receiving this and I hope they are rightly proud of everything they do.”
“We are working towards replacing Molly Owen with a new facility nearer to town and we hope to put the money towards new sensory equipment such as interactive lighting and sound equipment.”
In the past, The Molly Owen Centre was a facility where adults with learning disabilities were able to get involved in work, leisure and educational activities. However, changes to the way in which these services are delivered means that more people are now supported in their local community and have more choices. Molly Owen is used as a base where people can use specialised facilities and be supported to get involved in a range of activities in the community.
