New monetisation opportunity on YouTube in 2022

This time, YouTube is introducing Super Thanks to all creators who are part of the YouTube Partner Program. The new Super Thanks feature allows viewers to support video content creators by tipping them.

The feature is currently in beta and is available in 68 countries around the world for computers, as well as smartphones on Android and iOS. It was previously called "Applause Viewer" and has been tested since last year. The Super Thanks button will be placed in the panel below the video player.

To send a tip to the YouTuber, the viewer would simply click on the heart icon with a dollar sign. The person can then choose the amount of the tip and make the payment. Currently, there are only four fixed amounts to choose from. However, YouTube is planning to add an option to pay any desired amount soon.

When a viewer uses Super Thanks and completes the transfer, a welcome animation will appear on the screen, and a colorful comment with their name will appear below the video. The content creators themselves will be able to respond to these mentions in the same way as to regular comments. Since viewers who sent money will be highlighted in a different color in the comments section, YouTubers will be able to recognize who sent the money.

The Super Thanks feature is the fourth option added by YouTube to allow fans to pay creators directly. Thus, it joins a paid monthly subscription in the personal account of the channel, as well as two payment options for live streams: Super Sticker and Super Chat.

Currently, YouTube already has a similar feature. Donations can be done on any channel. There are bloggers who ask viewers to financially support the channel. For example, they raise funds for a new video camera, microphone, or other things, or simply for no purpose. To do this, you need to have truly loyal subscribers who will be willing to make the donation.

Other ways of making a living on YouTube worth mentioning are affiliate links that content creators place in the descriptions of their videos. Some YouTubers use their channels to promote and sell their books, tutorials, branded T-shirts and other merchandise, as well as goods and services of third-party companies (advertisers). To do this, under each video, the author leaves links to websites or online stores where viewers can buy these products. When someone makes a purchase using these links, you receive a small commission for the sale.
