Rommy Boco signs for Argyle on one-year deal

The Benin international midfielder Romuald Boco has signed a one-year contract with Plymouth Argyle.

The 28-year-old former Accrington Stanley player arrives at Home Park ahead of the 2013-14 season with Pilgrims boss John Sheridan looking to strengthen the squad and meet the club's ambitions for the future.

Boco has been capped more than 40 times for Benin and has had three spells in Ireland at Sligo Rovers before he rejoined Accrington Stanley last season, where he played twice against Argyle.

'Rommy' will wear the number eight shirt.

John Sheridan told the Plymouth Argyle website:

“I’m very pleased to get him.

“He’s got a good goalscoring record, knows this division, and with things not happening with Jason Banton, I wanted someone to come in who was similar to the way Jason plays.

“I think Rommy fits that criteria very well. He can play left, right and down the middle. He’s very comfortable; has got good feet; runs at people, and he gets a goal."

Meanwhile, Sheridan has been unsuccessful in his bid to bring Jason Banton back on-loan to Plymouth. The Crystal Palace youngster - a goalscoring success in Argyle's relegation fight at the end of last season - will instead be loaned to League One MK Dons.
