Plymouth still have plenty to play for in League One as they look to secure a play-off place but you won’t be blamed for having half an eye on the World Cup.

It’s the greatest tournament on earth and you might be already making plans for a summer of fun.

It’s going to be an interesting tournament on a huge scale. According the Thatsagoal’s World Cup infogragphic there’s a whopping 3,050 kilometres between Kaliningrad and Yekaterinburg, which means a fair few time zones to consider throughout the tournament.

Of course it could have been very different. Plymouth would have been a host city had England won the bid to host the 2018 and a 46,000 seater stadium would have been in the city alongside a plethora of high class hotels, bars and restaurants.

Instead when England’s first fixture gets underway on 18 June, it will be the pubs instead and there will be plenty of options in and around Plymouth for you to catch the game.

The Walkabout

The Walkabout is full of TV screens and is one of the best places on the high street to catch a game. They’ll be showing pretty much every game of the tournament along with serving food, having special offers and plenty of after parties too.

If you’re wanting to watch Australia and their World Cup adventure, this will be the perfect place!

Porters

It’s yet to be seen whether there will be any public space for fans to watch the game in Plymouth, so heading to the likes of Porters may be the next best thing.

It’s one of the best pubs on the Barbican and has a huge screen combined with fine ales, and a large beer garden to drown your sorrows in the summer sun.

The Roundabout

The Roundabout at the bottom of North Hill is a regular haunt all season for the students wanting to catch the match.

It has 10 TVs and two huge screens and food served from early until late, perfect for the Super Saturday that has four games back to back!

It’ll be a popular venue for the World Cup so for big games it’s well worth getting down early.

The Brass Monkey

Located in the city centre, The Brass Monkey is newly refurbished and has great value on drinks and food.

It’s a huge pub with plenty of TV screens which will provide for a great atmosphere throughout the World Cup. A place for England in the final?

It’s yet to be seen whether the council will have any designated squares for the football. Of course we will bring you reports of any fan zones heading to the city centre of Plymouth.
