Plymouth Raiders Academy has signed Ross and Shane McCann, two brothers from Dublin, to their ranks.

Following the signings of Dylan Costelloe and Charlie Coombes Academy's, the capture of the 6ft 7in siblings continues the team's summer raid on young Irish talent.

The four players will help swell the ranks of the Academy and boost their chances of adding to its remarkable haul of five trophies in its first year, only missing out on the British College Sport Cup.

Academy Coach Jay Marriott told the Plymouth Raiders website: “To take the next step in our development as an Academy, we had to add size to the team.  It couldn't just be a stereotypical big man with no mobility, we needed a player that would fit the mould of our running game. To find not just one, but two players that can run like deers but who also bring size and toughness was fantastic, and the fact they are brothers makes their transition that much smoother".

Both brothers are Irish youth internationals.

The academy aims to take and develop players from 16 to 19 years old from the local area and Europe wide with a view to producing the next generation of British Basketball League (BBL) stars as well as feeding the successful Raiders first team.
