Lincoln City 0

Plymouth Argyle 0

FA Cup 1st Round, Saturday 9 November 2013, Sincil Bank

Plymouth Argyle and Lincoln City will meet again in a replay on Tuesday 19 November after their FA Cup first round tie ended in a scoreless draw.

After scoring winners at the death in each of their last two league fixtures, Argyle could not muster a third consecutive last gasp victory despite a typically strong finish. Both sides showed attacking intent; the Conference side showed plenty of verve and cup tie determination to earn a replay; the Pilgrims began both halves powerfully but could not convert chances into goals.

John Sheridan introduced new loan signing from Bury Tope Obadeyi just before the hour mark. The 24-year-old striker showed some of the electric pace that had so impressed Sheridan and had an immediate if not decisive impact on the game.

Argyle looked like they could find a winner as they lay siege to a tiring Lincoln, but the Imps held out.

Goals remain something of a precious commodity for the Greens, but their effort could barely be criticised. The FA Cup can be a great leveller, and so it proved at Sincil Bank. The two sides will have to do it all over again at Home Park.
